Acharya Lama Tenpa Gyaltsen, Nalandabodhi, Nitartha Institute, and Naropa University

Acharya Lama Tenpa Gyaltsen shares leadership and teaching responsibility with Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche at Nitartha Institute and teaches regularly at the Nalandabodhi centers in America and Asia.

He is a professor of Buddhist studies and Tibetan language at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.

Acharya Tenpa and Ponlop Rinpoche were shedra classmate, studying at the same time with Khenpo Rinpoche in the first class of Karma Shri Nalanda Institute.  Following graduation, Acharya Tenpa taught at this monastic college for two years.  Then, under Khenpo Rinpoche’s guidance, he entered a three-year retreat followed by being the resident teacher at Theksum Tashi Chöling in Hamburg, Germany. Now, in Colorado, he works with university students training in translation and Buddhist studies and is the chief teacher of Nalandabodhi Boulder.  Recently, he has been teaching a yearly course in China based on Khenpo Rinpoche’s teaching on the Progressive Stages of Emptiness.
