Pride Self-liberated

Do not cling to the object of your pride -
        look at the clinging mind,
Clinging to oneself as best is self-arisen
and self-liberated, originally emptiness by nature,
Original emptiness is nothing other than
        the wisdom of equality -
Within pride self-liberated, recite the
        six-syllable mantra.

                               (Paltrul Rinpoche)

"Do not cling to the object of your pride" - the main object of your pride is yourself. Do not take yourself to be truly existent. Instead, look at the clinging mind. Stop focusing on the object of your pride as being truly existent, just leave it. Look instead at the mind that is proud, that is clinging to yourself as being truly existent. When you do that, what do you see?

You see that clinging to yourself as best is self-arisen and self-liberated. What this proud mind is doing is clinging to yourself as being the best. But knowing that you yourself do not truly exist, look at this mind that is clinging to yourself as being best and see that it is self-arisen and self-liberated. It is original emptiness.
