Ani Chopel Sangmo

Ani Chopel Sangmo is from Bhutan, where she has two sisters and one brother. Her father and mother work in Thimpu as a driver and a vegetable shopkeeper, respectively. She became a nun at age nine. Her brother is a monk and Ani Chopel Sangmo felt she would have a better life as a nun. Lama Tendzin from Pullahari arranged things so that she could attend the Sri Mangal Dvip School, the first Tek Chok Ling nun to do so. She likes studying English, Tibetan and Nepali as well as science, math and computers. When asked what she likes best at Tek Chok Ling, she responds, “cleaning up the nunnery.”
