The Progressive Stages of
Meditation on Emptiness IV

Mind-Only:
Conduct & Fruition

Conduct
Just as with a dream, to cling as real to the dualistic appearances
Of apprehender and apprehended is confusion.
Knowing this, while recalling with certainty the view of emptiness of duality,
Engage in all activities: eating, sleeping, walking or sitting.

Fruition
When dharmata, empty of duality, is realized directly,
The confusion of dualistic appearances will gradually dissolve.
It is said that when non-dual dharmadhatu manifests,
Perfect enlightenment is attained.

At the Dzogchen Palace of Appearance-Emptiness, Sherab Lodro [Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche] spoke this extemporaneously, whereupon Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche immediately wrote it down.

Translated under the direction of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche by Tyler Dewar of the Nitartha Translation Network, 2002.

Know this life to be like a dream.
See the mind’s unborn nature.
Aspire to be of benefit to others.
