Ani Karma Yangzom

My name is Karma Yangzom. I was born in 2005 and raised in a village called Yolmo (also known as Hyelambu). Yolmo is renowned as a sacred place associated with great Buddhist masters, such as Milarepa. In my family, I have my parents, a younger sister, and a younger brother. In 2015, I became a nun at Tek Chok Ling Nunnery. For four years, I attended school in my village, where I learned English, Nepali, and mathematics. Being the eldest child, I used to assist my parents and grandmother by gathering firewood and grass. Unfortunately, my school was destroyed due to the 2015 earthquake in Nepal. It was then that my father’s aunt, Ani Tsultrim Dolma, a long-time nun at Tek Chok Ling, helped me gain admission to the nunnery. Thanks to Rinpoche and the sponsors support, I had the fortunate opportunity to study at SMD School (Shree Mangal Dvip Boarding School), starting from grade 2. Currently, I am in grade 9. I would like to express my deep gratitude to all my sponsors, especially my respected Guru Khenpo Rinpoche, for the immense support and blessings I have received. In the future, I would totally be down to lend a hand at my nunnery and support those awesome nuns!
