The Progressive Stages of
Meditation on Emptiness VII

Middle-Way Consequence:
View & Meditation

View
Dismantle in the expanse the hosts of thoughts of existence and nonexistence.
Break down all apprehension of a self or selflessness.
When certainty becomes stable in freedom from elaborations,
Learned ones hold this as realization of the consequentialist view.

Meditation
Within dharmadhatu free of elaborations,
Having completely pacified conceptual clinging towards existence and nonexistence,
And with the elaborations of meditation and non-meditation utterly pacified,
The pacification of the hosts of thoughts in their own place is supreme meditation.

At the Dzogchen Palace of Appearance-Emptiness, Sherab Lodro [Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche] spoke this extemporaneously, whereupon Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche immediately wrote it down.

Translated under the direction of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche by Tyler Dewar of the Nitartha Translation Network, 2002.

Know this life to be like a dream.
See the mind’s unborn nature.
Aspire to be of benefit to others.
